Police recovered the bodies of a woman and her two children in Bogura's Shajahanpur upazila today.
The bodies were recovered from their home in Khalisakandi village in Shajahanpur. The mother's body was found hanging from the ceiling, while her children were found on a bed with their throats slit, Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shajahanpur Police Station, said.
The deceased were identified as Sadia Akter, 25, wife of Md Shahadat Hossain, and their two children -- four-year-old Saifa and two-year-old Saif.
According to Sadia's in-laws, there was no response from her despite repeated calls this morning. They later broke down the door to the room and found the three bodies. Police arrived at noon and recovered the bodies.
"The bodies have been sent to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
"The husband, Shahadat, an armed forces personnel who was home on leave, has been detained for questioning. He slept in a separate room last night after an argument with his wife. He claimed that his wife took her own life after killing their children," the OC added.
