Bangladesh's women cricketers are set to receive a 35 percent salary increase along with higher daily allowances and tour fees under a revised pay structure approved by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) during its board of directors' meeting on Monday.
The new structure will be effective from July 2025 for one year.
"The daily allowance of the woman cricketers has increased to 75 dollar from 50 dollar while the tour fee is also increased to 50 dollar from 25 dollar. The board has approved it in their meeting," BCB's media committee chairman Amzad Hossain said during a press conference after the meeting.
"Those, who are in our contract, they will get a 35 percent raise in their salary," he added.
According to the BCB's women's wing, this year a total of 15 woman cricketers were named in the central contract for the women's cricketers. The number of previous contracted players was 18.
These 15 cricketers will get new salary in four different categories with category A players will receive Tk 1,60,000 while category B, C and D will get Tk 1,35,000, Tk 95,000 and Tk 80,000 respectively.
Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty, Nahida Akter and Sharmin Akhter will get salary in category A while Farzana Hoque, Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akhter, Rabeya Khan and Sobhana Mostary are in category B.
Shorna Akter is the only player listed in category C while Sumaiya Akter, Fariha Islam Trisna, Rubya Haider Jhelik, Sanjida Akter Meghla and Nishita Akter Nishi are in category D.
Among the previous contracted players, Shamima Sultana, Murshida Khatun, Lata Mondol, Disha Biswas, Sultana Khatun, Dilara Akter and Shathi Rani couldn't get place in this year's list.
Meanwhile, pacer Jahanara Alam, who was in the previous contract but opted not to continue it as she moved to Australia, also didn't get a place in this year's list.
According to the women's wing, if any player comes outside from the national contract and represents the national team, she will get salary in Category D.
Additionally, the national team captain and vice-captain will get Tk 30,000 and Tk 20,000 extra per month, which was also approved during the board of directors' meeting.
Meanwhile, the BCB has also increased the number of players to 35 from 30 in their women's national contract, which is similar to the first-class players' contract for male cricketers and was introduced only in the last year. However, the salary remained as Tk 30,000 per month as like the previous year's contract.
