Police have no information that the alleged shooter of Osman Sharif Hadi, identified as Faisal Karim Masud, and his associate Mohammad Alamgir Sheikh, have crossed the border, said Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) SN Nazrul Islam.
Speaking at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre this afternoon, he said the suspects' passport numbers have been collected and blocked to prevent them from leaving the country.
"Additional vigilance has been enforced along the borders. So far, there is no information that they have fled abroad," he added.
The DMP official also said that police have detained two individuals from Sherpur's Nalitabari over suspected involvement in illegal border crossings.
The detainees were identified as Sivion Dio, 32, and Sanjay Sikim, 28.
Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have detained the owner of the motorcycle used in the shooting of Hadi on Friday in Dhaka's Paltan.
