Two decades later, Constantine 2 still waiting for a miracle

It has been two decades since 'Constantine' first stormed theatres, cementing Keanu Reeves as the definitive on-screen exorcist and setting a new benchmark for dark, supernatural storytelling within the superhero genre.

Fans were thrilled when a sequel was announced in 2022, with Reeves and original director Francis Lawrence returning, yet the project's progress has been painfully slow. Now, DCU co-head James Gunn has shared a rare but disappointing update on Constantine 2.

"I've discussed it on and off. I've discussed it with Keanu. I think that's a great group of guys. I like all those people a lot, I think they're talented. But I have not read any script yet," Gunn revealed.

Earlier this month, Reeves gave a more optimistic outlook, saying, "Fingers crossed. Another draft of the script came in. We're waiting. We're gonna take it to the studio and hopefully they like it too."

Despite its cult-classic status, Constantine 2 currently has no confirmed release date at the moment.
