Spanish electrical solutions brand Simon has officially entered the Bangladesh market through a partnership with Akij Venture Group.
The launch event took place on Thursday at a hotel in Dhaka, marking the beginning of Simon's operations in the country.
Founded in 1916, Simon operates in more than 90 countries and is globally recognised for its switches, sockets, lighting products, and smart home systems.
Through this partnership, Simon aims to introduce modern design, advanced technology, and smart lifestyle solutions to Bangladeshi consumers.
Sheikh Shamim Uddin, chairman of Akij Venture Group, said Simon's 109 years of experience and innovation would now benefit local consumers.
"We believe this partnership will ensure safe, modern, and premium electrical solutions for the people of Bangladesh. With European smart technology and the highest safety standards, we aim to set new benchmarks in the country's electrical industry," he said.
Akij Venture Group is already manufacturing electrical products such as switches, sockets, and lighting materials at its factory in Habiganj.
The event was attended by Simon Group Strategy Director Kim (Spain), Business Director Derek Dai (APAC), senior officials from both organisations, representatives of government and private institutions, and members of the media.
During the ceremony, Simon unveiled its premium range of switches, sockets, and smart home solutions.
The products will be showcased till 8pm today (31 October) at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon's Hall Room and Padma Hall.
