Arifin Shuvoo and Jannatul Ferdous Oishee starrer film "Noor", which was first submitted to the then censor board in July 2022, is finally gearing up for release. The board initially withheld clearance over technical issues, prompting a revision and re-submission. It eventually received approval at the end of that year. Nearly three years on, the long-pending film is now set for an OTT release.
According to sources, "Noor"—originally made for a theatrical release—is currently in its final stages of preparation for streaming. The trailer is expected within the next couple of days. The film is slated to premiere on the Bioscope app either on November 28 or in the second week of December.
Directed by Raihan Rafi, "Noor" initially began production under Shapla Media. In June 2024, the project was reportedly acquired by a new production company, Quiet & Set, which explored various release strategies, holding several meetings with the director, cast, and producers. The final decision favoured an OTT release.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, director Raihan Rafi said the film felt more suited for digital viewers. "It's an old film. After watching the final version, I feel OTT is the right platform. It will offer a better experience for that audience," he said. Asked why he originally intended a theatrical release, he added, "Back then it felt right. Now it doesn't—there is nothing more to it."
Another source shared that the film's lead actors had preferred a theatrical release but ultimately participated in the promotional photoshoot out of professional responsibility.
Shuvoo and Oishee first shared the screen in "Mission Extreme", later appearing together in "Mission Extreme 2: Black War". "Noor" marks their third collaboration. Their off-screen camaraderie had previously fuelled rumours of a romantic relationship—speculation both actors dismissed in multiple interviews, describing each other instead as close friends. Shuvoo has often said he cares for Oishee like family, while Oishee has referred to him as a guardian figure.
Meanwhile, Oishee recently wrapped shooting for "Soldier", opposite Shakib Khan. Shuvoo has completed work on a film directed by Anam Biswas, as well as a Bollywood web series titled "Jazz City". The actor noted he is unsure when the series will be released.
