Police seize long gun from cowshed, arrest listed criminal in Chattogram’s Raozan

Police recovered a locally made long gun (LG) and bullets from a cowshed in Raozan upazila of Chattogram early today and arrested a listed criminal in connection with the incident.

The arrestee has been identified as Abu Sayed, 37, who is accused in 15 separate cases, said Mohammad Belayet Hossain, assistant superintendent (Raozan–Rangunia Circle) of police in Chattogram.

He is a listed criminal in the area, said ASP Belayat in a press conference at Raozan Police Station.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcers first arrested him along with five pistol bullets and 20 yaba tablets from Sarkarpara area last night. Later, based on information given by him, police recovered a locally made long gun (LG) and four shotgun bullets from a cowshed, said the police official.

ASP Belayet said that during primary interrogation, the accused confessed that he had long been involved in drug trade and other criminal activities.

He was produced before a court today, which ordered to send him to jail.

Earlier, on November 7, police recovered a Chinese rifle, a shotgun, and seven bullets after draining a pond behind the house of one Ayub Ali Saudagar near Chowdhuryhat Bazar in the same upazila.

Police claim these weapons were among those looted from the police station on August 5 last year.
