Mehedi Hasan was the hero with the ball before veteran Nasir Hossain finished off the job with the bat as Rangpur picked up a five-wicket win over Rajshahi on day three of the NCL match at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium.
Right-arm pacer Mehedi bagged four for 26, ably supported by pacers Robiul Hoque ad Mukidul Islam Mughdho, who bagged two apiece as Rajshahi were bundled out for 119 all out.
Needing 130 for the win, Rangpur slumped to 59 for 5 as Abdur Rahim and Shafiqul Islam bagged two wickets each. Veteran Nasir Hossain hit and an unbeaten 52 and along with and skipper Tanbir Hayder, stitched together a 74-ball 73-run stand to help Rangpur win on day three by five wickets. Mughdho was awarded the player-of-the-match and also got his 100th first-class wicket during the match.
At the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogura, Amite Hasan's 58 helped Sylhet reach 207 all out, setting Chattogram a 352-run target. Pacers Abu Jayed and Rejaur Rahman Raja ran rampant on Chattogram batters, picking four and three wickets respectively to bowl Chattogram out for 205 as Sylhet won by 147 runs.
At Khulna Divisional Stadium, Mymensingh put on a good first innings showing, reaching 387 for 7 at close on day three. Naim Sheikh, Abdul Mazid and Md Al Amin Jr struck fifties while Azizul Hakim Tamim missed out on a ton, hitting 81. Earlier Khulna had posted 387 all out thanks to Soumya Sarkar's 186.
At Cox's Bazar International Stadium, Barishal carried on from overnight score of 243 for 5 against Dhaka to reach 341 all out as Tasamul Haque hit an unbeaten 58 on day three. Dhaka were in a spot of bother at close, losing five wickets for 124 and just a 56-run lead going into day four.
