Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route were disrupted for over two hours after a coach of the Mymensingh-bound Mohanaganj Express derailed in Gazipur's Joydebpur Railway Junction area this afternoon (31 October).
According to Joydebpur Station Master Mahmudul Hasan, the incident occurred around 2:10pm when the Mohanaganj Express, which had departed from Dhaka for Mymensingh, derailed shortly after crossing the Joydebpur station. The train's power car went off the tracks, suspending rail communication on the busy route.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
A relief train from Dhaka later arrived at the scene and successfully put the derailed coach back on track, Mahmudul said.
The Mohanaganj Express resumed its journey from Joydebpur station around 5:30pm, he added.
