Columnist and senior journalist Anis Alamgir was reportedly taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office this evening (14 December).
Citing Anis Alamgir, Prothom Alo reported that he was picked up from a gym in the Dhanmondi area and taken to the DB office.
"DB officials told me that their chief would speak to me," Anis said.
Speaking to Prothom Alo over the phone from the DB office shortly after 8:30pm, Anis said he was taken from Dhanmondi around 7:30pm and reached the DB office at about 8pm. "I have been waiting since then, but the DB chief has not spoken to me yet," he added.
Attempts by The Business Standard to contact Anis Alamgir for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to repeated calls.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman told TBS that he is yet to be informed about Anis Alamgir's detention at the DB office.
