Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam left Dhaka this morning for Morocco to attend the 93rd General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
The IGP will lead a three-member Bangladesh delegation to the four-day assembly, scheduled to be held from November 24 to 27 in Marrakech, according to a press release issued by the Police Headquarters' media wing.
Representatives from 196 Interpol member countries will join the assembly, which serves as the largest global platform for police cooperation. Bangladesh became a member of Interpol in 1976.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Bangladesh delegation will hold bilateral meetings and exchange views with police chiefs and representatives of various countries on information sharing, joint operations, capacity building, and expanding international cooperation.
In addition, the delegation will discuss strengthening multilateral collaboration in combating terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, organised crime, and other transnational threats.
The IGP is scheduled to return home on November 30.
