The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained the wife, brother-in-law and a female friend of the prime suspect in the attempted murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha and a prospective parliamentary candidate for Dhaka-8.
The detainees are the suspect Faisal Karim Masud's wife Samia, his brother-in-law Shipu, and a friend named Maria.
Samia and Shipu were detained in Narayanganj today, while Maria was detained in Dhaka; they were later handed over to Paltan Police Station, said RAB's Director (Law and Media Wing), Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury.
A large number of cheque books allegedly signed by the accused Faisal, along with electronic devices, were recovered from their possession, according to the RAB official.
He told The Business Standard that the three were detained on suspicion of maintaining contact with the prime suspect, Faisal, before and after the shooting of Osman Hadi.
"They have been handed over to the concerned police station. Further investigation will be conducted by the police," he added.
