The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled four of its leaders from all party positions over their alleged involvement in nomination-related violence in Chattogram's Sitakunda last evening.
According to a press release signed by Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the expelled leaders are Sitakunda Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal President Alaudddin Moni, General Secretary Helal Uddin Babor, Sitakunda Municipality Convenor Mamun, and Jubo Dal's Sonaichhari unit General Secretary Momin Uddin Mintu.
The decision came after incidents of clashes, vandalism, and road blockades took place in the Kadam Rasul, Bhatiari Bazar, and Jalil Gate areas along the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway, reportedly involving supporters of Aslam Chowdhury.
The party statement said the activities were "against public interest" and violated party discipline, leading to their expulsion from all organisational levels, including primary membership.
