Dhaka University teacher Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan Monami today filed a case at Shahbagh Police Station against several individuals, alleging that her photo was edited and shared on Facebook with obscene descriptions.
According to the first information report (FIR), four people have been named as accused. They are: journalist and activist Mujtoba Khondker, writer Mohiuddin Mohammad, Dhaka College student Nirab Hossain, and Ashfaq Hossain Evan.
Mujtoba has been named the prime accused.
Monami, an assistant professor at the Department of Public Administration and assistant proctor of Dhaka University, filed the case under the Cyber Protection Ordinance.
In the FIR, she alleged, "Mujtoba Khondker, a journalist and activist, edited and posted my photo on his Facebook account in an obscene manner, with the caption -- 'She is a Dhaka University professor, wearing a bikini in the name of freedom of attire.'"
She added, "Mohiuddin Mohammad, a writer and activist, shared a photo card on his Facebook profile, referring to me as a 'source of sexual fantasy.'"
The post also contained vulgar, indecent, and defamatory comments about her, the FIR added.
