Police recovered the decomposed bodies of a man and a woman from a warehouse, on the ground floor of a house in Dhaka's Uttar Badda, this morning.
A police official said residents had noticed a foul smell for the past few days, which became unbearable last night. Initially, they thought the stench was caused by several dead rats, which they removed. However, when the smell persisted, they searched further this morning and found the bodies.
The bodies have been sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station, said the warehouse had been locked from the outside.
As the bodies were badly decomposed, DNA samples will be collected to confirm their identities, the OC added.
OC Habibur said they suspect the deceased could be Saiful Islam, 28, a security guard of a nearby building, and Shakila, 28, a house help from another building. Both had been missing since October 26.
