A construction worker died after falling from an under-construction staff quarters building at Jahangirnagar University's Bishmail area on Friday (31 October).
The deceased was identified as Rakib, 24, a resident of Chapainawabganj district.
According to site engineer Mahmudul Hasan, eight workers were working on plastering and tiling on the ninth floor of the under-construction fourth-class staff quarters building in the afternoon. Around 5:30pm, as they were finishing work and disposing of debris through a window, Rakib reportedly slipped and fell.
Fellow workers at the site said he lost his balance while throwing out construction waste.
Rakib was immediately taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar by the university's ambulance. He succumbed to his injuries around 8:30pm while undergoing treatment there.
