Bodies of army soldier's wife, their 2 children found in Bogura home

Police have recovered the bodies of a woman and her two children at the residence of her husband, who is an army soldier, in Khalisha Kandi village of Bogura's Shahjahanpur upazila this morning (25 November).

The deceased were identified as Sadia Begum, 24, her son Saif, 7, and daughter Saifa, 4.

Police took Sadia's husband, Shahadat Hossain Kajol, a 'Sainik' at the Momenshahi Cantonment in Mymensingh, into custody.

Confirming the matter, Hussain Mohammad Raihan, additional superintendent of police (crime and operations), said, "We found three bodies inside the house around 10:30am. The children's throats had been slit, and the mother was hanging by a scarf tied around her neck."

Locals suspect Sadia may have first killed her children before dying by suicide over family dispute. However, police said they will confirm this only after completing the investigation.

"We are not yet certain about the exact cause of their deaths. The autopsy report will clarify the matter," the police official said.

According to family members, Sadia, daughter of Mofazzal Hossain from Bhandar Paikar village, married Shahadat six years ago. The couple frequently argued over domestic issues.

Shahadat reportedly took leave last Friday to come home. On Monday, he took Sadia and the kids to her parental home for a visit. After returning that evening, the couple had an argument.

Shahadat then slept in a separate room. This morning, he found the bodies. Locals were alerted soon afterwards, then the police were informed.

Shahadat apparently fell ill afterwards and was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment under police custody.
