Another success for Bangladesh came from the Under-18 youth kabaddi team at the Isa Sports City in Bahrain. In the third Asian Youth Games, the team thrashed hosts Bahrain 106–17 today to confirm a bronze medal. With this, Bangladesh bagged their second bronze medal in the ongoing games. Two days earlier, the women's Under-18 kabaddi team earned the country's first-ever medal in the competition by defeating Sri Lanka.
To cheer and support the players, Bangladesh's ambassador to Bahrain, Mohammad Rois Hasan Sarwar, was present in the stands. The youth kabaddi team did not have the best start to the tournament, as they lost their opening match against India and came under pressure. However, the players did not lose heart. They bounced back in style by defeating the strong Iranian side in their second match. The team then secured a consecutive win against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh narrowly lost to Thailand in a crucial encounter, missing out on a place in the final. Despite that, they beat Pakistan and Bahrain in their last two matches to finish among the top three teams in the seven-team competition. Bangladesh had failed to win any medals in the previous two editions of the Asian Youth Games. This time, thanks to kabaddi, the country celebrated two bronze medals.
