On the occasion of Victory Day on December 16, 54 paratroopers will carry out a parachute jump with the national flag of Bangladesh in an attempt to set a world record, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus said in a post on his official profile.
Ashik Chowdhury, executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), will be among the paratroopers and will perform the jump wearing a helmet painted with the image of Osman Hadi.
"On Victory Day, I call on everyone to offer prayers for the speedy recovery of Osman Hadi, a vanguard of independence and sovereignty," the post said.
Hadi, an independent aspiring candidate for Dhaka-8 and spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho, was shot in broad daylight in the capital's Paltan area on Friday, leaving him critically injured, a day after the Election Commission announced the schedule for the 13th national election.
